I wager that the Matrix reality doomsday clock must have moved within ten minutes of midnight after this presentation was made by Patti Maes and some awfully creative MIT students.   They have created a prototype “sixth sense” machine that looks like it is going to bridge the gap between our online and our real world experiences.  The 8 minute clip from TED gets better and better as it goes on so make sure to watch every second.  Get ready to start gasping and clapping in joy after minute 4, when Patti starts showing off some incredible abilities of her teams’ new toy, like dialing a phone on your palm, or having a books Amazon rating pop up on its cover as soon as you pick it up.

Miss. Damjan, who is attending medical school in the fall, points out from across the room that “this sixth sense thing would be really helpful if it could help the doctor get a visual analysis of a patient’s past and current medical history.”  I totally agree.  Imagine walking into see a doctor who immediately stares at your chest to examine the X-Ray you had five years ago at another clinic.

Thanks again to Manage My Practice blog for this great find!

  1. Your post is indeed interesting. It allows me to look deeper when watching movies. Movies are not only intended for entertainment, rather, it teach us about society. It opens our eyes in the reality and leave us with a meaningful life-learning.

Really? Is this possible? I just wonder. But if this comes true someday effectively, then it’ll be another Milestone at the history of science. The Sixth sense.
