SULUKU says China needs a better food pesticide App

Pesticide Spraying

SULUKU is a blog documenting the quest for vegan food in China. It is a run by a couple of recent graduates from California, both now living in China, Tayler and Chow.

In one recent post, Tayler raises the question of when there is going to be a health app in China that lets one know what pesticides have come in contact with food.

In my daily quest to find random and cool things about food on the internet, I came across  www.whatsonmyfood.org/.  They offer a free searchable database of pesticide residue levels found on different foods in the U.S. and the toxicity of these chemicals.  With both PC access and a mobile app, it’s an indispensable aid for modern shoppers.   When will China get something like this??!?

It’s a good question. I don’t know how well this information is tracked in China for local produce, but food that is grown for the international market should have this sort of data available.

Check out the Suluku post for more information.
